The aggressiveness of businesses today dictates the need for business players to re-evaluate strategies and develop plans that are likely to elevate their business positions. Marketing as one of the key component of business needs to be constantly evaluated and at times re engineered to ensure success in this tumultuous commercial environment. In line with this, the distributive trade sector, in which retail is the major contributor has evolved to become more global in position and more sophisticated in implementation.

The conference aims to
- disseminate and share information and ideas relating to marketing and retail practices
-Expose participants to new outlook and practices in marketing and retailing that are relevant for theorists and practitioners.
- Develop networks amongst practitioners and academics at a global level which are likely to generate beneficial linkages
- Develop opportunities for collaboration amongst academics and practitioners for the purpose of initiating training programs, industrial attachments and research projects useful for both parties.
- Encourage collaborative projects amongst institutions of higher learning and industries in addressing practical marketing and retailing problems.
