Lingnan University hosts International Day 2025 “Around the World”.
The festival, officially opened by distinguished Prof Raymond Chan Hon-fu, Acting President and Lam Man Tsan Chair Professor of Scientific Computing; Prof Li Donghui, Associate Vice-President (Experiential Learning Projects); and Prof Bradley Barnes, Special Advisor to President on Internationalisation and Director of Global Education, transformed the campus into a bustling international marketplace where students explored the rich tapestry of world cultures through interactive booths and captivating performances.
“This event embodies our commitment to fostering on-campus internationalisation while bringing exchange opportunities to life,” said Prof Bradley Barnes in his welcome address. “We’re not just celebrating diversity – we’re creating global citizens who will thrive in our interconnected world.”
The celebration aligned perfectly with the Hong Kong Government’s vision of establishing the city as a premier international post-secondary education hub, demonstrating the university’s dedication to cultivating a truly global learning environment.
Festival-goers were treated to an extraordinary lineup of student performances that showcased the artistic brilliance of different cultures. The stage came alive with the mesmerising movements of Kamazhay Dance, soulful singing performance by a local student, and high-energy street dance that had everyone on their feet.
Beyond the main stage, the heart of the festival featured 13 vibrant student-run booths, each offering an authentic glimpse into their respective cultures. Exploring East Asian heritage at the China booths, European charm came alive through the booths of France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, while the majesty of the Himalayan and South Asian region was represented by Bhutan, India, Nepal and Pakistan. Students discovered the hidden treasures of Central Asia through Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic, experienced the American Halloween trick-or-treat culture and Mexico passion.
The International Day 2025 has demonstrated the campus community’s enthusiasm for cross-cultural engagement. It is not just an event; it is a testament to the vibrant, multicultural campus community and a launching pad for students’ future international adventures.
Students explore the unique cultures of various regions through interactive activities.
