DGIST Holds Joint Symposium with Korea University, Collaborating in Future Convergence Research

□ DGIST President Lee Kun-woo and Korea University President Kim Dong-won held the ‘Korea University–DGIST Joint Symposium’ at Hankook Ilbo Hall, Korea University’s main auditorium, on Friday, October 31 at 2 p.m.

□ This joint symposium was organized to lay the groundwork for future collaborative research in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), quantum science, biotechnology, and energy. It aims to establish a sustainable partnership system based on the cooperation and credit exchange agreement signed by the two universities back in June.

□ The symposium was attended by approximately 30 participants, including the university presidents, vice presidents, faculty members, and researchers, and it featured presentations of joint research proposals, panel discussions, and a networking dinner.

□ DGIST President Lee Kun-woo stated, “This is a meaningful occasion where the two universities take the first step toward actual joint research collaboration based on the agreement we signed,” and added, “I hope both universities grow together through active convergence research and create an innovative research ecosystem.”

□ Korea University President Kim Dong-won stated, “This symposium is the starting point for full-scale academic convergence and substantial joint research between the two institutions,” adding, “Connecting the talent, technology, and research infrastructure of both institutions, it will create a driving force that builds the future of Korea’s science and technology.”

□ At the symposium, five DGIST researchers and six Korea University researchers presented joint research proposals in various fields, including ▲AI, ▲quantum computing, ▲robotics, ▲digital twins, and ▲precision medicine, followed by a panel discussion on the future collaboration between the two universities and identifying strategic research projects, under the theme of ‘Flagship Development Plans in Strategic Fields to Promote Joint Research.’

□ Starting with this symposium, the two universities will expand their collaboration by regularly hosting joint symposiums, identifying joint research projects in each field, and nurturing next-generation researchers. Additionally, they will continue their research collaboration and convergence innovation to help drive the progress of future science and technology.
