Kuala Lumpur, 11 April 2026 — The Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2026 successfully concluded its 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee edition, marking another milestone in its journey as one of Asia’s most established platforms for invention, innovation, and technology commercialization.
Held from 9–11 April 2026 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, MTE 2026 brought together innovators, researchers, industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and young inventors in a dynamic international platform dedicated to advancing science, technology, and innovation.
Organised by PROTEMP Exhibitions and Conferences Sdn Bhd, MTE 2026 continues its long-standing role in strengthening Malaysia’s innovation ecosystem and supporting the national aspiration towards a high-technology and knowledge-driven economy.
This year’s edition featured an impressive 412 inventions and innovations from 16 countries, and attracted 4,112 visitors from across the region, reinforcing MTE’s position as a truly international innovation marketplace and a key regional hub for technology exchange, networking, and commercialization opportunities.
Participating countries included Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Poland, Iran, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, China, and several others, reflecting the growing global confidence in MTE as a trusted innovation platform.
Aligned with Malaysia’s National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (DSTIN), MTE 2026 continued to emphasize three strategic pillars:
• Market Validation and User Inclusivity
• Technology Transfer through Joint Ventures and Collaboration
• Foresight Technology as an Engine of Growth for Malaysia’s Economy and Digitalisation
The Expo was strongly supported by key ministries and agencies including the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), and Ministry of Education (MOE), along with strategic institutional partners such as University of Malaya (UM), SIRIM Berhad, National STEM Association (NSA), Malaysian Association of Creativity and Innovation (MACRI), International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), and Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA).
A key highlight of MTE 2026 was the continued success of its flagship award platforms:
The Public Service Innovation Asia Awards (PSIA) recorded strong participation from government agencies across Malaysia and the region, showcasing impactful innovations that enhance public service delivery, efficiency, and governance. This year, Sarawak demonstrated particularly strong and active participation, alongside contributions from various states and federal agencies. Notably, multiple municipal councils also took part, reflecting the growing role of local authorities in driving grassroots innovation and improving urban service delivery. The submissions collectively highlighted the public sector’s commitment to innovation-led transformation and citizen-centric solutions.
The Innovation International Awards (IIA) attracted a diverse range of participation from universities, research institutions, corporations, and independent inventors, reinforcing its role as a key platform for validating and advancing commercially viable technologies.
The Asian Youth Innovation Awards (AYIA) continued to inspire young innovators, highlighting the importance of youth-driven solutions in shaping a sustainable and technology-enabled future.
Together, IIA, PSIA, and AYIA demonstrated MTE’s inclusive innovation ecosystem, bridging government, academia, industry, and youth in a shared mission to advance innovation across all levels of society.
MTE 2026 also placed strong emphasis on STEM education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), supporting Malaysia’s long-term strategy to develop future-ready talent equipped with critical thinking, technical expertise, and innovation capability.
Speaking on the success of the Silver Jubilee edition, the organisers highlighted that MTE has evolved beyond an exhibition platform into a strategic global innovation hub where ideas are transformed into real-world solutions, partnerships are formed, and commercialization pathways are accelerated.
As MTE enters its next chapter, it remains committed to strengthening international collaboration, empowering innovators, and supporting Malaysia’s aspiration to become a regional leader in science, technology, and innovation. MTE 2027 will be held at WTC, KL from 8-10 April 2027.
