Eight subjects at Lingnan University are in the 2026 ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. Five subjects, including Computer Science and Engineering, and Electrical and Electronic Engineering, made the list for the first time, while Artificial Intelligence entered the 76th to 100th band.
This year’s featured subjects are Artificial Intelligence, Business Administration, Computer Science and Engineering, Education, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Economics, Management, and Sociology. Five of these, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, and Sociology, are ranked for the first time.
Prof S. Joe Qin, President and Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science at Lingnan University, said, “Lingnan’s ranked disciplines increased from three last year to eight this year, reflecting wider international recognition of our academic and research work. Artificial Intelligence entered the world’s top 100 for the first time, highlighting our progress in AI and data science across teaching, research, and development. Computer Science and Engineering, and Electrical and Electronic Engineering were ranked for the first time. We will review the results and the indicators behind them, and use them to strengthen our ‘Liberal Arts + Technology’ direction.”
GRAS evaluates universities based on five key dimensions: world-class faculty, world-class output, high-quality research, research impact, and international collaboration. The ranking spans 57 subjects across five broad categories: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences.
