Nine students from Saint Francis University (SFU) took part in the GYEI Oxford-Cambridge Academic Program 2026, organised by the Global Youth Empowerment Initiative (GYEI), in August this year. The 12-day academic and cultural exchange at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge allowed students to experience the academic atmosphere of world-leading institutions firsthand and broaden their global horizons.

Hosted at St Hilda's College, Oxford and Magdalene College, Cambridge, the programme was taught by scholars from both universities and explored cutting-edge topics such as artificial intelligence, healthcare innovation and sustainability. Students in Business and Hospitality Management, Computing and Information Sciences, and Techno-humanities strengthened their presentation and communication skills through public speaking and debate workshops, and fostered creativity and collaboration through entrepreneurship projects and cross-cultural activities. Beyond the classroom, students attended formal college dinners, went punting on the River Cam and visited local historical and cultural sites, experiencing the traditions of British higher education and deepening their understanding of cultural diversity.

The exchange enabled students to extend their learning beyond the classroom, strengthening their leadership and cross-cultural collaboration skills. As a pioneer of applied sciences universities in Hong Kong, SFU is committed to integrating theory with practice and nurturing talent with practical capabilities and a global outlook through diverse learning opportunities. SFU would also like to express its heartfelt gratitude to the generous donors whose support made this enriching learning experience possible.
