The 2026 Taiwan Innotech Expo (tie), a three-day showcase of cutting-edge technologies, will open on September 17 at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. Jointly organized by 12 government agencies and co-executed by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). Bringing together nearly 450 exhibitors from 18 countries, including Japan, the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom, the expo will showcase more than 1,000 patented technologies, highlighting Taiwan’s R&D capabilities and industrial strength in response to global technological transformation, with a particular focus on AI technologies and their applications across industries.
AI is rapidly moving from technological innovation into practical industrial applications, ushering in a new growth cycle driven by artificial intelligence. In 2026, International Data Corporation (IDC) identified an “AI Supercycle,” noting that global IT spending is entering its strongest growth period since 1996. AI investment is also expanding beyond infrastructure into AI applications and Agentic AI workflows, with businesses increasingly shifting their focus from simply adopting AI to leveraging AI to generate tangible operational and commercial value.
This global AI wave is also driving the growth momentum of Taiwan’s technology industries. Taiwan’s economic growth forecast for 2026 has been revised upward to 11.05%, while exports are projected to grow by 41.07% year-on-year, driven primarily by strong global demand for AI and Taiwan’s critical position in the semiconductor and AI supply chains.
In response to the global shift from AI technology development toward industrial implementation, this year’s Taiwan Innotech Expo adopts “AI-Powered Innovation, Sustainable Future” as its central theme and is curated around the government’s “Ten AI Initiatives” The expo connects AI technologies with industrial needs, cutting-edge R&D and sustainable applications through four major exhibition areas: the Invention Competition Area, Innovation Economy Pavilion, Future Tech Pavilion and Smart Sustainability Pavilion. Covering digital empowerment, smart manufacturing, precision health, net-zero sustainability and cross-domain applications, the expo demonstrates how AI technologies can be translated into practical applications, driving industrial transformation and creating new value.
International Invention Competition Brings Together 550 Entries
The Invention Competition Area has attracted nearly 550 entries from Taiwan and overseas, with teams from Japan, Poland and Singapore among those participating to compete for the event’s highest honor, the Platinum Award. The competition highlights the diversity of international invention and the technological capabilities of innovators from around the world.
Taiwanese participants include nearly 80 companies and organizations, such as Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories, the National Atomic Research Institute and Taiwan Power Company, as well as more than 40 universities and colleges, including National Central University, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, Taipei City University of Science and Technology and Ming Chi University of Technology. Covering fields such as semiconductors, ICT, cybersecurity and healthcare, the entries address everyday challenges and explore how technological innovation can create new opportunities for industrial upgrading.
TIE brings together more than 1,000 technologies, showcasing Taiwan’s innovation capabilities to visitors from around the world.
Three Themed Pavilions Showcase Taiwan’s Innovation Ecosystem
In addition to the Invention Competition Area, the Innovation Economy Pavilion, Future Tech Pavilion and Smart Sustainability Pavilion, led by various government agencies, will serve as major highlights of the expo. Together, the three pavilions showcase Taiwan’s innovation capabilities from AI-driven industrial applications and the commercialization of advanced R&D to smart and sustainable solutions, demonstrating the full link between technology development and real-world applications.
The Innovation Economy Pavilion focuses on “AI Driving Transformation Across All Industries” bringing together applications in semiconductors, smart manufacturing, net-zero sustainability, precision health and cross-domain applications. Through the integration of hardware, software and AI technologies, the pavilion showcases practical achievements in industrial transformation and commercial applications. Featured technologies include “Intelligent Payload with Identification, Tracking and Positioning”, “Intelligent Neuro-Oculomotor Diagnostic System”, and “Smart Water Dual-Core: Autonomous Monitoring Vessel × Digital Twin Treatment Plant”, demonstrating the potential of AI to serve diverse industrial applications.
The “Taiwan Patent GO,” organized by the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO), will also be featured in the Innovation Economy Pavilion. This year, the station will showcase 32 outstanding patented technologies that have received awards at Taiwan Innotech Expo and renowned international invention exhibitions. Organized around four themes—precision health, cross-domain applications, smart manufacturing and net-zero sustainability—the exhibition highlights Taiwan’s ability to transform R&D and intellectual property into practical industrial applications.
One featured technology is “External Wireless Electronic Press-response System“, designed to support arteriovenous fistula care for dialysis patients. By using pressure and IMU sensors to accurately monitor grip strength and compression rhythm, the system transmits data to an app in real time and provides visualized information and voice reminders to assist patients with daily care. The technology demonstrates how patented innovations can move from R&D laboratories into practical healthcare applications.
The Future Tech Pavilion is centered on “Powering Industry Transformation with Taiwan's Research Excellence,” covering semiconductors, optoelectronics and communications, biotechnology, new drugs and medical devices, humanities and natural sciences, and sustainable technologies. Featured innovations include “Multi-Sensor Fusion Target Tracking and Suppression System (AI-MFTSS)”, and “Disaster Intelligence Network: AI-enabled Disaster Intelligence Integration and Decision Support Platform”. The pavilion emphasizes the connection between advanced research and industrial needs.
Five themed guided routes highlight key trends in AI, next-generation communications, precision health and sustainable development, allowing visitors to explore the expo based on their interests.
It will also feature dedicated sections for research results from public research institutions and university-industry collaboration, bringing together the R&D capabilities of the four major research institutions supported by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and showcasing industry-academia collaboration. Visitors will gain insight not only into current technological achievements, but also into key technology development directions for Taiwan over the next three to ten years.
The Smart Sustainability Pavilion, themed “SMART • RESILIENT • SUSTAINABLE • HEALTH,” is organized into three major areas: Smart Innovation, Digital Empowerment and Circular Sustainability. Featured technologies include “AI Floral Pathway Smart Production and Marketing Technology for Protected Floriculture”, the “DeepRad.AI DeepLung-CAC 100”, and “Circular Recycling Technology for Absorbent Hygiene Products”. Covering smart agriculture, AI healthcare and resource circulation, the pavilion showcases diverse achievements in advanced R&D, digital technology integration and sustainable applications, connecting food security, national resilience, industrial development and resource sustainability to envision a smarter, safer and more sustainable future.
Five Guided Routes Highlight Expo Trends; Forum Focuses on AI Agents and Next-Generation Smart Networks
To help visitors navigate the extensive range of exhibits, the expo will offer five themed guided routes covering major technology trends, including AI, next-generation communications, precision health and sustainable development. Visitors from different industries can select routes based on their interests and explore key technologies and applications across the exhibition.
In addition to technology showcases, the expo will host a series of forums and seminars to deepen industry dialogue. Among them, the international forum “The Convergence of 5G/6G Forum：AI Agent-Driven Next-Generation Intelligent Networks” will bring together industry leaders and technology experts from Taiwan and overseas to discuss AI Agents, AI RAN, edge computing and 5G/6G technologies. The forum will explore technological innovation, application scenarios and commercial implementation, foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and strengthening Taiwan’s connections with the global technology industry.
Beyond technology showcases, the expo will feature a series of forums and seminars to foster industry exchange and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
