Lingnan University supports DSE candidates with new Samuel C.C. Ting Elite Class and flexible admission arrangements

With Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) results slated for release on 15 July, Lingnan University has introduced elite programmes, flexible admission arrangements, and competitive scholarships to support candidates planning their higher education. Initiatives include the inauguration of the inaugural Samuel C.C. Ting Elite Class (CCT Class), named after Nobel Prize-winning physicist Prof Samuel C.C. Ting, which chooses the best undergraduate University Entrance Scholarship students for this comprehensive learning opportunity. The new flexible admission scheme for the upcoming academic year will allow candidates who underperform in one core subject to still be considered for admission after a detailed assessment.

Lingnan University provides multifaceted support and local student scholarships (through JUPAS) for DSE candidates.

To attract outstanding students, Lingnan University will officially launch the CCT Class in the 2026/27 academic year. Current-year DSE candidates who achieve 25 points or above in their best five subjects will be invited to join, and the students selected will receive the highest level of resource support, including a four-year full tuition scholarship and a four-year full accommodation subsidy with guaranteed hostel accommodation.

In terms of academic and professional development, students will receive personal mentorship from distinguished academics, preferential participation in cutting-edge research projects, and excellent opportunities to meet renowned scholars, including Nobel Laureates. They will also receive Artificial Intelligence (AI) training from major international corporations, culminating in professional certificates. Graduates will receive priority consideration for admission to postgraduate programmes that prepare them to become future technological and societal leaders.

To provide a more accommodating pathway for students with diverse talents, Lingnanis introducing aflexible newadmission arrangement for specific programmes in the 2026/27 academic year, which will give special admissions consideration to applicants who have placed target Lingnan University programme(s) in their Band A choices, and indicated exceptional overall academic performance, but have not met the general admissions requirement by one level in either of the core subjects (Chinese Language or Mathematics). This ensures that first-class talents are not disqualified from studying their preferred subjects due to a single examination setback.

Lingnan also offers substantial entrance scholarships that recognise and incentivise strong performance among current-year HKDSE candidates. Local freshmen admitted through JUPAS whose total score in their best five subjects meets specific thresholds will be eligible for either a full-tuition scholarship (renewable annually subject to performance) or a generous one-off award. The University aims to alleviate students’ financial burdens through this significant financial aid, enabling them to immerse themselves fully in academic research and holistic development upon admission.

Of the 23 JUPAS undergraduate programmes offered in the 2026/27 academic year, 16 feature programme-specific scholarships, covering a wide array of disciplines in Philosophy, English Language and Literature, Translation, Film and Visual Arts, Business Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Social and Public Policy Studies, Government and International Affairs, and Global Sustainable Development, ensuring that students from different fields have the opportunity to earn awards.

To assist candidates in formulating optimal strategies ahead of the critical modification window, Lingnan will conduct online consultation sessions on 13 and 14 July from 2:00 to 5:00pm, when admissions officers will respond to queries regarding modification tactics and scoring mechanisms. These sessions will be open to all candidates, parents, and teachers without prior registration.
