A Seminar to Promote Safety for International Students

In their bid to promote safety among international students, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organized a seminar on security and protection to further improve the sense of confidence with the University’s campus safety measures.

Security Director of UPM, Retired Major, Feisal Awang expressed his concerns for international students and constantly reminds them that they have to be aware of their surroundings now that they are on foreign soil. This is to avoid irresponsible individuals who might have bad intentions on them.

“ The students are forewarned not to stay outside of the campus vicinity after 12 midnight as well as not letting the non-residents to illegally squat at their abodes.

”As for lost belongings, they are advised to make a report immediately with the Security Division to expedite the retrieval,” he said at the Briefing Hall, Administration Building, UPM.

Retired Major Feisal added that these students are provided with a list of numbers of Security Division in case of emergencies.

A fresh Information Technology PhD student, Anas Mustafa expressed his relief that so far he has not encountered any bad experience during his stay in Malaysia.

“I am confident of the safety measures here in UPM as opposed to campuses in foreign countries,” he added.
