USM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato 'Omar Osman said that a strategic collaboration between USM as an academic body iwth MMCH, known as one of the hospitals dedicated to cancer treatment, will advance the field of Medical Physics.
He said the cooperation was also seen as an effective step towards improving the quality of service to the community and especially to push health services through the provision of professional training to students.
"MMCH has previously been providing industrial training to USM students with advanced research facilities and provides opportunities for USM students in world-class imaging research.
"To support MMCH, USM is now also offering education fellowships to selected MMCH staff to pursue studies in physics in the university,'' he said.
He added that with the signing of the MoA MMCH and USM hoped to further strengthen cooperation and enhance professionalism among graduates in Medical Physics that can compete globally.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board of MMCH, Lau Beng Long, said the cooperation can be seen to improve the performance of both parties, particularly in the development of knowledge and expertise.
"MMCH will always adopt an open policy and is happy to receive USM students for training programs, and to cooperate in placing graduate students conducting research in MMCH facilities,'' he said.
