In addition to opening the USM-KLE building, he also opened a new block for surgery Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology which will provide benefits to a total of 127 medical students who have been studying at USM since 2010.

The Deputy Dean (Academic) of the School of Medicine at USM, Assoc. Dr. Shaiful Bahari Ismail, said the medical program at USM-KLE Campus will be expanded through the recruitment of another group of Medical students who will further their studies at the USM Campus in Belgaum KLE in September.
"We have now started the process of recruitment and students who are interested can start applying for a medical education program at USM campus-KLE is from now until May 25, 2012." he said.
"The School of Medicine at the USM campus-KLE also offers a five-star facility that is unmatched by other study locations around the world. In addition, students will be exposed deep in the medical world with 'cadaver' facilities, high-tech laboratories, a modern library and a sophisticated form of learning through a plasma screen and so on."
The USM School of Medicine - KLE India will use the full USM syllabus and students will also be closely monitored by local experts who are stationed there.
USM-KLE medical complex also has a training hospital bed that can accommodate 50 patients.
