2015 SciFinder® Future Leaders in Chemistry

The Chemical Abstract Services (CAS) has announced that Ms Subathra Sinniah, a Ph.D student at the University of Malaya, is one of the 2015 SciFinder Future Leaders in Chemistry.

She is doing her Ph.D research in electroanalytical chemistry, under the supervision of Dr. Ninie Suhana Abdul Manan and Dr. Sharifah Mohammad of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya.

Subathra.S was chosen among hundreds of applicants this year through an essay illustrating the importance of SciFinder in research, a letter of recommendation and her curriculum vitae. As a member of the 2015 class, she will join an elite group of scientists who have broadened their understanding of how chemical information can advance research and who have extended their network of peers along the way.

In August 2015, 20 outstanding Ph.D. students and postdocs from all around the world will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to help shape the future of chemical information. Subathra.S and her colleagues will also be joining the researchers at the 250th ACS National Meeting & Exposition in Boston, Massachusetts. These students will also get the opportunity to visit prestigious Central Ohio research organizations such as Ohio State University, TechColumbus and the Battelle Memorial Institute. All of their expenses will be fully covered by CAS including a stipend of $1,000 USD and a certificate of distinction.

The SciFinder Future Leaders in Chemistry program is dedicated to providing Ph.D. students and postdocs from around the world an opportunity to shape the future of chemical information. By sharing their immediate research needs and insights into what may be on the horizon, participants could help CAS continue to innovate in the long term.
