World Cancer Research Fund International Regular Grant Programme 2015/2016 cycle is now open for applications. The grant programme accepts applications on the effects of diet, nutrition (including body composition) and physical activity on cancer. More information from www.wcrf.org/apply. Deadline for applications is 9 October 2015.

World Cancer Research Fund International’s Regular Grant Programme 2015/16 cycle is now open. The deadline for submitting applications is 9 October 2015.

Each year the Regular Grant Programme accepts applications for research studies exploring the link between diet, nutrition, body composition, physical activity and cancer prevention and survival.

Details on the grant programme and the application process can be found in the Guidelines for Research Grant Applicants & Award Recipients.

The scope of the grant programme is defined by six research principles and five research themes, which are described in the guidelines. Applications must adhere to all the research principles and one or more of the research themes. Applications which do not fall within the scope of the principles and themes, will not be considered.

Regular Grant Programme applications are accepted from anywhere in the world, except the Americas (North America; Central America and the Caribbean; and South America). Applications from the Americas should be submitted to our network charity, the American Institute for Cancer Research, which has a separate Research Grant Programme.

Changes to the Regular Grant Programme:

Please note that the scope and eligibility of the Regular Grant Programme has been updated for the 2015/16 cycle. The updated information can be found in the Guidelines for Applicants and Award Recipients, but we would like to draw applicants' attention to the following –

*The Terms and Conditions have been updated; please refer to section 7 of the Guidelines for Research Grant Applicants & Award Recipients before applying.

*International collaborations and applications from low and middle-income countries are particularly encouraged, as we are keen to strengthen capacity in under-represented regions.

*We continue to encourage Pilot Grant applications from eligible countries (ie. all countries outside the Americas), but please note that the requirements and definitions for pilot research have been updated.

*Studies focusing on the role of isolated food or herb extracts that are not part of the usual diet, and studies proposing the use of animal models of cancer that cannot demonstrate direct relevance to human cancer, are out of scope.

*Studies solely proposing the development or validation of a methodology are out of scope.
Unless it is not feasible or appropriate to collect prospective data, applications proposing a case-control study design not nested in a cohort study, or a cross-sectional study design, will not be accepted.

The criteria for assessing whether an application is in scope has been tightened; in particular we would like to remind applicants that the aim of the grant programme is to fund research on the role of diet, nutrition (including body composition) and physical activity on cancer: proposals that do not focus on these areas will not be accepted.

How to apply:

Applications must be submitted online by 5pm (UK time) on 9 October 2015. Visit our website to obtain the application forms:
