Keio University is selected as a research center for human iPS cells

Keio University was selected as a research center for human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells under the project for realization of regenerative medicine by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

In the afternoon of 3 March 2008, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Kisaburo Tokai visited the Shinanomachi Campus to meet with Prof. Hideyuki Okano of the Department of Physiology of the School of Medicine, as he is the main researcher of this project at Keio.

Comment by Prof. Okano:
It is a great honor to be selected as a research center for human iPS cells. I will do my best to create Japan's top research group to lead the world in research of iPS cells.
