The Faculty of Pharmacy, UiTM, organizing a conference and exhibition at KLCC

The Non-Destructive Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Research Centre and the Particle Design Research Group, Faculty of Pharmacy, UiTM, organized a 2-day conference and 3-day exhibition, 25 - 27 May 2010, at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

The conference and exhibition were supported by Tefarco Innova Consorzio (Europe), BioPharmaNet (Europe), Academy of Sciences Malaysia as well as Research Management Institute UiTM at international, national and university levels.

More than 200 participants from Italy, France, UK, Singapore, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Middle East and Philippines participated in the conference. This participation marked a good international interest in the conference.

Chemopharm Sdn Bhd, Perkin Elmer Sdn Bhd, DKSH Technology Sdn Bhd, Maxsains System Enterprise, Crest NanoSolutions (M) Sdn Bhd, DG Global Enterprise and Dutech Scientific (M) Sdn Bhd were some of the corporate entities supporting the conference by sharing the latest advancement in materials and technology at the event. Through the exhibition, information related to intellectual property application and career in manufacturing, marketing, hospital and retail services were also provided to visitors and participants.

Twenty undergraduates were sponsored by Pharmatech 2010 to attend the event to assist them elevate their interest in pharmaceutical technology. Secondary schools had also brought their pupils to the exhibition.

Five best poster awards were bestowed awards. The committee congratulated Aminah Kadir, Brian Sheng Xian Teo, Ekha Mardziah Radman, Natesan Gopal and Nor Amlizan Ramli for being awarded the honor verified by an international academic panel.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wong Tin Wui, the Director of Non-Destructive Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Research Centre, said he was very pleased with the response received for Pharmatech 2010. He looked forward to a bigger edition in 2012 to accelerate collaboration between academia and corporate.

He was presently reviewing feedbacks received to monitor the exact academic and industrial benefits of Pharmatech 2010 to encourage more industrialists and postgraduates join the upcoming Pharmatech 2012.

The inaugural edition of Pharmatech 2010 – International Conference and Exhibition on Pharmaceutical, Nutraceutical and Cosmeceutical Technology concluded successfully with more than 130 scientific presentations on topics such as nanoparticles, microparticles, agglomerates, nanoemulsion, wound dressing, microwave technology, drying techniques, herbal actives, toxicity and efficacy studies, clinical and retail practices.
