Areas of cooperation between the two universities take on agriculture, forestry, economics and management, food science, environmental studies and biotechnology.
The collaboration includes the exchange of graduate students (PhD and Masters), and members of the faculty and research specialists.
BOKU believes that the relations existing between the two parties through the ASEA-Uninet (Asean-European University Network) and Eurasia 2 Consortium (Erasmus Mundus) should be strengthened through a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The MoU was signed by the Vice Chancellor of UPM, Prof. Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Nik Mustapha R.Abdullah and BOKU’s Deputy Head of Deparment of Food Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Dietmar Halthrich.
BOKU offers nine undergraduate programs and 24 masters programs in seven of the master's program taught in English and open to international students.
Signing of the MoU was to strengthen relations between Malaysia and Austria and auspiciously witnessed by the President of Austria, Dr. Heinz Fischer who was on a three-day official visit to Malaysia.
