UPM Students Honed French Skills at the Université de Franche-Comte

Five students from the Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) had the opportunity of a lifetime when they were flown to Université de Franche-Comte to hone their French language skills.

Sixth semester students of French Bachelor of Arts Management, Najlaa Fatin Malik, Norakmar Maisarah Shari, Tan Wei Yu, Yeoh Kean How, and Hanna Md. Yahaya took part in the Student Mobility program organized by the International Centre UPM.

"Through this program, we are more confident to practice the French language to communicate with the locals.

"This also implies that my French language skills are geared up for a higher level," said Fatin who wishes to further her studies in the language to Master degree one day.

The lucky six shared their experiences with other students at the session of Students Experience Sharing : Mobility Program to France held in a ceremony officiated by the Dean of FBMK, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Che Ibrahim Salleh.

The Mobility Program, which began on November 29 to December 14 is managed by French major program coordinator of FBMK, Dr. Omrah Hassan @ Hussin.

"The participants also had the chance to stay with Malaysian students studying French in the university.

"Mobility program such as this is a form of initiatives to improve UPM's name in Europe in line with its status as one of the Research University in Malaysia," he said.
