Dr. Shahreen Mat Nayan
Dr. Shahreen Mat Nayan, senior lecturer from the Department of Media Studies, University of Malaya received the Best Journal Article Award (under the Humanities and Social Science Category) at the recent Majlis Penerbitan Ilmiah Malaysia or Malaysian Scholarly Publication Council (MAPIM) - Education Ministry 2013.
This award recognizes the contribution of writers in sharing their knowledge in scholarly publications. Held last month (19th May) at the Dewan Banquet University Putra Malaysia, Dr. Shahreen received a trophy and RM7000 from Deputy Minister of Education II, P. Kalamanathan.
The winning article was entitled "Hugging the Trees for Life: Implicating Bitzer in the Non-violent Rhetorical Situation of the Chipko Movement".
The article, published in Pertanika Journal of Social Science and Humanities (a SCOPUS publication) was adapted from her PhD thesis, which she received from the University of Denver (USA), in 2012.
