Malaysia Technology Expo 2026 Celebrates Silver Jubilee with Global Participation and Innovation Excellence

The Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2026 proudly marks its Silver Jubilee, celebrating 25 years as one of Asia’s leading platforms for invention, innovation, and technology commercialization.

Kuala Lumpur, 9 April 2026 — The Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2026 proudly marks its 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee, celebrating twenty-five years as one of Asia’s leading platforms for invention, innovation, and technology commercialization.

Organised by PROTEMP Exhibitions and Conferences Sdn Bhd, MTE 2026 continues its legacy of connecting innovators, researchers, industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and young inventors under one international platform dedicated to advancing science, technology, and innovation.

Established in 2001, MTE has grown into a respected global event that supports Malaysia’s national innovation agenda by providing a strategic platform for showcasing breakthrough technologies, encouraging collaboration, and accelerating commercialization opportunities.

This year’s edition gathers participation from more than 10 countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Poland, Iran, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, China, and many others, reinforcing MTE’s role as a truly international innovation marketplace.

Aligned with Malaysia’s National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (DSTIN), MTE 2026 highlights three strategic pillars:

  • Market Validation and User Inclusivity
  • Technology Transfer through Joint Ventures and Collaboration
  • Foresight Technology as an Engine of Growth for Malaysia’s Economy and Digitalisation

MTE 2026 has strong support from key Ministries, including Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), and Ministry of Education (MOE) together with major stakeholders and institutional partners, including University of Malaya (UM), SIRIM Berhad, National Standards Authority (NSA), Malaysian Association of Creativity and Innovation (MACRI), International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), and Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA).

MTE 2026 also features several flagship award platforms that recognize innovation excellence across sectors:

The Public Service Innovation Asia Awards (PSIA) demonstrates strong participation from government agencies nationwide, including Sarawak, Wilayah, Selangor, and many others. This year, PSIA has attracted almost 278 innovations nationally and globally, reflecting the creativity, problem-solving capability, and commitment to improving public service delivery across Asia. The awards showcase how innovation within the public sector drives better governance, efficiency, and societal impact.

The Innovation International Awards (IIA) continues to attract participation from universities, research institutions, corporations, and independent inventors, serving as an important avenue for validating technologies with commercial potential.

The Asian Youth Innovation Awards (AYIA) recognises exceptional young innovators, demonstrating that innovation begins early and that youth-led solutions are critical to the region’s sustainable development.

Together, IIA, PSIA and AYIA reflect MTE’s inclusive approach in nurturing innovation across all levels — from government institutions and professional researchers to students and young inventors. This multi-level engagement ensures that innovation remains deeply embedded within society and continues to drive national development.

MTE 2026 also highlights the importance of strengthening STEM education and TVET development, in line with Malaysia’s long-term strategy to nurture future-ready talent equipped with practical skills, analytical thinking, and creativity.

MTE 25th anniversary is not only a celebration of MTE’s legacy, but also a reaffirmation of its continued mission to serve as a bridge between research, policy, education, industry, and the global innovation ecosystem.

“MTE has evolved beyond an exhibition platform. It has become a strategic meeting point where ideas are transformed into solutions, partnerships are formed, and innovation is positioned as a key driver of sustainable growth.”

As MTE enters its next chapter, the platform remains committed to strengthening international collaboration, empowering innovators, and supporting Malaysia’s aspiration to become a high-technology nation.
