Dr Hira Khalid

Hira Khalid is an associate professor at the Department of Chemistry of Forman Christian College University, Lahore, Pakistan.

I am an expert in medicinal Chemistry, leading a research group working in drug discovery and development for treating neurogenerative and cancer and HCV. I am serving as an Associate professor of Chemistry at Forman Christian College University, Pakistan, where I teach to undergrad, graduate and doctoral students.

I am leading the team for Vision and change for STEM education. I am a member of American Association of Chemistry teacher, PULSE and got trained for effective pedagogy in life science education.

I have conducted number of outreach activities for interactive learning and teaching experiences. Currently a member of ACS and RSC and IUPAC affiliated young member. I represent the women from developing country and participated in Lindau Nobel laureate Meeting in 2017 as selected young scientist from Pakistan. I am a member of OWSD and interested to contribute effectively. My published blog for reference.

Currently, my group is working on synthesis of novel hetercyclic drug contenders, molecular docking, Pharmacological studies of synthetic and natural compounds, wastewater treatment, environmental and occupational health issues.

Teaching and research experience in different Public and Private Universities, served GC Women University as PhD Coordinator and Assistant Professor Chemistry, National Academy of Young Scientist’s (NAYS) as Coordinator Awards, Life time member Chemical Society of Pakistan (CSP), Young IUPAC Fellow, Member American Oil Chemist’s Society (AOCS), Ambassador of Chemistry ACS (American Chemical Society). Involved in teaching and research at graduate and post-graduate level. HEC approved Supervisor.

Research interests: Organic synthesis, Catalysis, Identification and estimation of heavy metals in air, water, food and clinical samples.
