Founded in 1991, the University of Applied Sciences Jena consists of eight departments, including Electrical Engineering, Fundamental Sciences, Medical Engineering and Biotechnology, and SciTec.
The University has a teaching staff of 130, an engineering and management staff of 215, and 4,900 students. Located in Jena, home of the optical giant Carl-Zeiss, it is one of Germany's newer universities. It has enjoyed significant growth in recent years as an institution specializing in science and engineering.
