Research, creative work, and innovation can only go so far without the right support to help move ideas from concept to impact.
To make that support easier to find and access, the Ateneo de Manila University Office of the Assistant Vice President for Research, Creative Work, and Innovation (OAVP RCWI) brought together researchers, writers, artists, students, and project teams for the RCWI Open House on 12 August 2026 at Faber Hall 101 and the Rizal Mini-Theater.
The all-day event brought together the RCWI’s various sub-offices, including the Ateneo de Manila University Press, the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO), and the University Research Integrity Office (URIO). It gave members of the Ateneo community a one-stop venue to learn about the University’s services for research, creative work, publication, innovation, intellectual property, research integrity, and public communication.
The RCWI lent an open ear to thoughts and inquiries on finding support for Ateneo researchers’ scholarly output, creative work, innovations, and other initiatives.
Visitors could speak directly with staff and specialists at service booths and consultations, while a full program of practical mini-talks tackled concerns that researchers and creatives regularly encounter in their work. Sessions covered spotting predatory journals, conducting impact-driven research, design thinking, intellectual property, research ethics, publication and creative work awards, publishing with the Ateneo Press, National Research Council of the Philippines membership, research communication, and conference presentation grants.
The Open House also introduced participants to the Ateneo’s scholarly journals and the people behind them. At the Journals Booth, visitors traced the journey of a manuscript from idea to publication, tested their knowledge of academic publishing, asked journal editors questions, and explored how Ateneo journals help researchers and authors share knowledge with wider audiences. Free journal copies, a book sale, games, and other activities helped make scholarly publishing and research support more approachable and easier to understand.
The Open House sought to connect members of the University directly with the people and resources that can help them develop stronger research, creative work, and innovations—and, ultimately, help bring these beyond the Ateneo.
A student lends her ideas to the RCWI Open House’s Research Impact Tree, one of several fun and interactive booths meant to help address the Ateneo community’s various needs in terms of research, creative work, and innovation.
By making these support systems more visible and accessible, the event helped advance the larger University goal of ensuring that Ateneo-generated knowledge does not remain within laboratories, classrooms, studios, and academic journals, but reaches the communities and audiences that can benefit the most from it.
Through initiatives such as the RCWI Open House, the Ateneo de Manila University continues to strengthen the ecosystem behind its researchers and creatives while helping more Ateneo ideas move from research and creation to publication, innovation, communication, and impact.
