The 2nd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Higher Education Innovation Symposium was successfully held at Shenzhen University from 13 to 14 June 2026. Under the theme "Higher Education Innovation and Greater Bay Area Development", the event was co-organised by the Guangdong Higher Education Society, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau University Alliance, and the Macao Association for Higher Education Development, and hosted by Shenzhen University. University administrators, experts, and scholars from Guangdong, Hong Kong SAR, and Macau SAR gathered to explore new pathways for innovative development in higher education, implementing key national deployments regarding higher education innovation and Greater Bay Area construction under the 15th Five-Year Plan.

On 19 May 2026, a delegation led by Prof Wei Zhiqiang, President of Qingdao University, visited Lingnan University, and was warmly received by Prof S. Joe Qin, President and Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science at Lingnan University, and other University representatives. Prof Qin and Prof Wei signed a university-level Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) witnessed by representatives from both institutions to further coordinate development and reinforce collaboration between higher education institutions in Shandong and the Hong Kong SAR.

Lingnan University and Yuanpei College of Peking University (PKU) organised the Lingnan-Yuanpei STEM Summer Academy (LYSSA) jointly for the third consecutive year. Coordinated by the Lingnan’s Office of Student Affairs, the LYSSA 2026 opening ceremony took place virtually on 20 April 2026, and attracted more than 40 experts, instructors, and students from both universities, providing a platform for Beijing-Hong Kong SAR youth to discuss innovation and entrepreneurship, improve their future competitiveness at work, and promote cultural exchanges and cooperation. The winning team will receive a cash prize of HK$50,000, as well as an incubation fund of up to HK$500,000 from the Lingnan Foundation, to support students in transforming their innovative ideas into entrepreneurial projects, products, or services with market potential.

Lingnan University proudly hosted its signature fundraising event, the Bright Future Charitable Foundation presents: Lingnan University Gala Dinner, held last night (18 March), and raised over HK$3 million. Lingnan University is hosting “Career Expo 2026 - Let’s discover the careers bettering you and the world!” on campus from 17 to 20 March. For the first time, there is an on-site emotional support and career counselling zone for local and non-local students as well as graduates. This initiative aims to bridge the psychological support gap for young people as they move from campus to workplace, helping them cultivate a positive mindset to meet professional challenges. The Expo has attracted more than 135 pre-eminent local and multinational companies offering employment and internship opportunities, setting a new record for participation. It will run online until mid-April, and enable a deeper understanding of labour market dynamics. Ms Alice Yeung, Principal Assistant Secretary (Civil Service) Appointments, also attended the kick-off ceremony held today and visited the government booths, and exchanged views with senior management of the university and students on career development.

In the fast pace of urban life, time slips quietly away amid daily routines. From 6 March to 4 September, the Chamber of Young Snow Art Exhibition Hall at Lingnan University presents Fleeting, Fleeting Light—Imagery of Time in Chinese Art, featuring 24 rare ink paintings, porcelain, lacquerware, and jade dating from the late Yuan dynasty to the modern era. The exhibition highlights the internationally acclaimed Space Series by Liu Kuo-sung, revered as the father of modern ink painting. The seasons, landscapes, immortal realms, and cosmos shown here invite visitors to think anew about the meaning of time.

Lingnan University held the Naming Ceremony of the Wu Jieh Yee Lingnan Hub and the Wu Jieh Yee School of Interdisciplinary Studies (WJYSIS) today, 3 March. The University also announced the creation of a dedicated research fund to support faculty members and students conducting interdisciplinary research using artificial intelligence (AI) and data science to develop innovative solutions to pressing societal challenges. These initiatives are generously supported by the Wu Jieh Yee Charitable Foundation (the Foundation).

Lingnan University welcomed nearly 200 higher education leaders from all over the world at its Tuen Mun campus today (27 February). The visit was one of the main activities of the 2026 Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) Conference and Exhibition. Through campus tours and interactive exchanges, Lingnan showed its internationalised learning environment and innovative teaching facilities, actively highlighting Hong Kong’s unique advantages as an international higher education hub. To inspire students in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA), unleash their creativity, and engage with the evolving landscape of new media, the Department of Marketing and International Business at Lingnan University organised The City Through My Lens: A Social Media Campaign - Video Competition 2025. Students were invited to form teams and create short promotional social media videos capturing the highlights of their cities. The competition provided a platform for GBA secondary school students to express their creativity and broaden their horizons, while also strengthening the connection between the University and the younger generation. This is the first time the competition has included schools across the GBA, and there were 18 entrants. The championship was awarded to Malvern College Hong Kong, the first runner-up was St. Paul's Convent School, and the other runners-up were the HKSYC&IA Chan Nam Chong Memorial College, Sha Tin College, St. Paul’s Secondary School and Yew Chung International School.
