Lingnan University’s flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the 76th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The ceremony started at 10:30 am today, 1 October, on campus, and was attended by Mr Andrew Yao Cho-fai, Council Chairman of Lingnan University; Council Members Ms Carrie Leung Ka-lai and Mr William Shum Wai-lam; Prof Raymond Chan Hon-fu, Acting President; Prof Lau Chi-pang, Special Advisor to President on Publicity cum Director of Communications and Public Affairs, and Professor of the Department of History, and Lingnan senior management, staff, and students.
The Lingnan University Flag Guard Team raised the national flag of the People’s Republic of China alongside the flags of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Lingnan University as the national anthem was played.
Prof Lau Chi-pang, Special Advisor to President on Publicity cum Director of Communications and Public Affairs, who is also Professor of the Department of History, said, “On the 76th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Lingnanians wish our country continued peace, prosperity, and vibrancy, and may Hong Kong prosper with social harmony and stability. The university will continue to cultivate all students’ sense of national identity, responsibility, and mission through a range of activities, strengthening their patriotism and their dedication to Hong Kong, and making ever-greater contributions to national development.”
