Prof Yusuf Ikbal Oldac, Research Assistant Professor of the School of Graduate Studies of Lingnan University in Hong Kong (LU) has been awarded the Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE) Newer Researchers Prize for his research proposal entitled “Scientific collaborations between the United Kingdom and Middle Eastern and North African countries in the post-Brexit and post-pandemic world”. He will receive funding to carry out the project, and join the Society’s Research and Development Committee for one year as a new researcher member starting from 1 January 2023.

On 279 pages, a new book presents descriptions for 99 species from the southeast Asian island of Borneo, covering all species commonly found, as well as representatives of the more cryptic ones. LIB-scientist Alexander Haas and his team of international collaborators worked over 20 years on its completion and just released “A Guide to the Tadpoles of Borneo”.

Osaka University researchers used sputtered silver to bond copper electrodes as part of 3D integrated circuits. By gently annealing the silver layers, enough surface roughness was created to connect the layers without added pressure. This work may lead to cheaper and smaller electronic devices that use less energy.

Lingnan University (LU) and National Chung Cheng University (CCU) in Taiwan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote cooperation in education and academic research between the two institutions. At the signing ceremony held virtually on 22 June 2022, Prof Joshua Mok Ka-ho, LU Acting President, and Prof Hao Feng-ming, Vice-President of CCU, signed the MOU on behalf of the two parties.

Duke-NUS is working with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to develop the Asia Pathogen Genomics Initiative (APGI) to improve regional genomic surveillance and sequencing capacity. Lingnan University (LU) is delighted to announce the admission of Hong Kong’s top boccia athlete Ng Chi-hang through Lingnan’s new Direct Entry Stream for Top Athletes (DESTA) under the University Grants Committee’s Student-Athlete Learning Support and Admission Scheme (SALSA). Ng represented Hong Kong in boccia at China’s 10th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and 7th National Special Olympic Games in 2019 and The Asian Para Games at Incheon in 2014. He will be joining LU’s Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) programme in the coming academic year.
